Surely “these are the times that try our souls”, as Thomas Paine observed just before Christmas, 1776. And, as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. wrote from a Birmingham jail, “Whatever affects one directly affects us all indirectly.”
As we try to envision our future, I believe all of us are seeking to find ways to continue offering what is ours to offer to the world. Even in our distancing, many are finding life-giving ways of connecting. In fact, I much prefer “Distance Socializing” over “Social Distancing”!
Please know that I’m here, and continuing to offer what I can ~ encouragement, comfort, options for managing strong emotions and difficult family challenges ~ most of all, listening with my heart as you journey through these times that try our souls.
I am available by phone, text, Face Time, Zoom, and email.
Meanwhile, I offer this meditation by Kitty O’Meara (1839-1888):
And the people stayed home.
And read books, and listened, and rested,
And exercised and made art, and played games.
And listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced.
Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently.
And the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless and heartless ways, the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed,
and the people joined together again,
they grieved their losses,
and made new choices,
and dreamed new images,
and created new ways to live,
and to heal the earth fully,
as they had been healed.
Peace and love and every blessing,Luann
